Our documentary follows 24-year-old Edouard on his journey to become Haiti’s first male obstetrician. The Caribbean island nation has one of the highest mortality rates new births in the Western Hemisphere. The medical situation is problematic, traditional midwives are often untrained and most women still give birth at home. Edouard belongs to the new generation of students being trained at the only college of midwifery in the country. He breaks with taboos and wants to give the women and their babies a better start in life.<\/p>\n
